Cap-Saint-Hilaire (2015 population 30; Traditional Chinese: 聖曉麗岬; frequently as Cap-St-Hilaire) is an arrondissement in extreme eastern Lakedale in Midway Special Region. Sitting on the cape overlooking the confluence of Cosmoplay and Periodic Rivers approximately 14 km from Lakedale City Centre, the arrondissement is a community home to about 30, and is largely French-speaking.
History[]
It was formerly a fort of the French colony La Pacifique Concorde, and was named as Fort Saint-Hilaire. The name was retained after the disintegration of the colony as Cap-Saint-Hilaire to reflect the geographical nature of the community.
Cap-Saint-Hilaire remained as an independent settlement in Midway Special Region until 2015, despite its proximity to the nearby City of Lakedale. As of 1 January 2016, Cap-Saint-Hilaire merged with the City of Lakedale and became one of its arrondissement.
In February 2016, the arrondissement was plagued with polluted water due to improper treatment of sewage water. This had caused sewage to flood back into the community's drinking water system unnoticed. The event had led to 21 hospitalisation, and the City of Lakedale was heavily criticised for its attitude of handling infrastructure in its periphery settlements. In response to the event, the city had promised to invest into the community, and to merge the community's water and sewage system to the city's unified network. The hospitalised citizens will also receive some amount to make up for their loss.
